For my preliminary experimentation with character animation, I've crafted a test character using Illustrator. Utilizing the Duik Bassel tool in After Effects, I intend to create a basic animation sequence featuring this character. This test will serve as a crucial assessment of the tool's capabilities and feasibility for animating the six characters planned for my documentary project.
The process will unfold in three main steps:
Step 1: Importing and labeling layers within After Effects to ensure organized and efficient workflow.
Step 2: Rigging the character using Duik Bassel, establishing the necessary control points for manipulation.
Step 3: Animating the character's movement. In this instance, I plan to execute a straightforward motion: a squat followed by a waving gesture.
Through this systematic approach, I aim to gauge the tool's suitability for the broader animation requirements of the project, while also refining my proficiency in character animation techniques.
